Army joins hands with Tata motors for training of Kashmiri youth on automobile technology

As part of Army initiative to ameliorate the unemployed youth, a tripartite initiative by Indian Army, Tata Motors Limited (TML) and Tata Community Initiative Trust (TCIT) was launched at BB Cantt, Srinagar on 02 Jun 2016. Under the program 29 young men from Valley have been selected to undergo a three months course in Automobile Technology, Maintenance & Repair skills at TML Ropar, Punjab. On successful completion of training the candidates will be awarded certificates from TCIT which will enable them to gain suitable employment.Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Satish Dua, Chinar Corps Commandant said that the aim of this employment drive is to ensure that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir get an opportunity to enhance their vocational skills, set benchmark for others to emulate and to channelise energy of youth in constructive way. These men would also get an opportunity to go out of state and widen their horizons he said. The gathering was also addressed by Mr Sanjeev Garg, Vice President and Global head, TML. He highlighted that the motive of this collaboration with Army is to create quality standards in skill development industry and assist in increasing employment opportunities for the youth. The excitement among the candidates was clearly visible as most of them were moving out of the region for the first time. Recently, under a similar Sadbhavana initiative 15 youth from Baramulla were imparted certified training by Army & Maruti Udyog Ltd on Repair and maint of Maruti Vehicles. The training has ensured that all have found suitable employment.All candidates expressed their deep gratitude to the Army and TML for giving them the opportunity for growth and self development.
