SKIMS, GMC Sgr, associated hospitals suffered loss of Rs 625 cr in 2014-floods

Minister for Health & Medical Education Bali Bhagat today said that SKIMS, Government Medical College Srinagar and its associated hospitals suffered losses of Rs 625.78 crore during the devastating September 2014 floods.While replying to a question of Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, the Minister said GMC Srinagar and its associated hospitals suffered loss of Rs. 267.96 crore, SKIMS Rs. 322.74 crore, Government Dental College Srinagar Rs 16.50 crore and Health Institutions under Director, Health Services Kashmir Rs. 18.58 crore.The Health Minister informed the House that against the total projection of Rs 625.78 crore, equipments and civil works to the tune of Rs. 279.22 crore were executed under SDRF and Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, besides an amount of Rs. 15.53 crore has been provided under PMNRF for additional replacement of damaged equipments.Intervening in the matter, Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Syed Basharat Bukhari said that the World Bank will be providing relief which would also be used to upgrade the affected health infrastructure.Ghulam Nabi Monga and Saif-ud-Din Bhat raised supplementaris to the main question.
