Students from different colleges on Tuesday protested against the recent fee hike passed by the university council.Large number of students from different colleges assembled here in Press Enclave and amid anti-Kashmir University slogans demanded immediate roll back of fee hike.Carrying placards and banners, the protesting students said that Kashmir University has made three-fold examination fee hike. “Earlier I was supposed to pay Rs 1150 but now I am asked to pay Rs 3375. This is sheer injustice towards the students. Instead of minting money from the poor students, the Kashmir University should find ways and means to improve the standard of education,” Fayaz Ahmed, a Bachelor of Engineering student told CNS.Many of the students present in the protest held the view that there is a massive fee hike everywhere including examination, reappear, reevaluation, admission, hostel and expressed grave concern that the university has hiked it up to 900% in some particular cases.
