Srinagar , 30 May 2016

South Kashmir today observed complete shutdown in the memory of double rape and murder case of two Kashmiri daughters Asiya and Nelofar which was called by Chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Geelani and a condolence meeting was also held in Shopian in this regard.Syed Ali Geelani also strongly condemned the shifting of JKLF Chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik to Central jail Srinagar and termed it as the worst form of state terrorism. He said that the oppressive tactics has neither worried the Kashmiri pro-freedom leadership in the past and nor will this policy deter us in the future also and we will continue to pursue the sacred cause of Kashmir until it will get liberated from the cruel clutches of India. On the directions of Syed Ali Geelani a high level delegation of Hurriyat Conference led by Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar today visited Shopian and participated in the function which was called in the memory of Asiya and Nelofer there. The high level Hurriyat delegation comprised of Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Ghulam Mohammad Khan Sopori, Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Mohammad Yaseen Attaai, Bashir Ahmad Andrabi, Mohammad Amin Ahangar, Tanveer Ahmad Bhat, Farooq Ahmad Guttapuri, Rifat Ara and Mohammad Ramzan Khan.

While demanding the reopening of the double murder and rape case of Asiya and Nelofar and public execution of the involved personals, Hurriyat leaders said that there were enough evidences available to prove the big hand of the Indian agencies in this unfortunate incident but all those evidences and proofs were eliminated under a well thought out plan. The then Omer Abdullah government played an important role in shielding the real culprits and hushing up the case by misusing the government machinery. While addressing the people on the occasion, the Hurriyat leaders paid rich and glorious tributes to the two daughters of Kashmir Asiya and Nelofar and said that after the Kunan Poshpora the Shopian incident is a very serious and shameful episode in the resistance history of Kashmir which has shaken the conscious of the whole Kashmiri Nation. This incident can no way be neglected or ignored and until an impartial investigation is conducted in this case and the real culprits are brought to justice, we will not remain silent and we will continue to raise our concerns. The Hurriyat leaders said that the gang rape is being used as a war weapon by the Indian occupational forces in Jammu & Kashmir and from last 26 years about 7 thousand Kashmiri women have been either raped or molested by these forces.

The black laws like AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act (DAA) are providing a protective shield to the Indian troops here and due to which no rape accused personal has been so far prosecuted or punished. The government forces are free to do whatever they want and no one will question them for that even judiciary is helpless before them. While demanding the impartial investigation by some independent agency into all the gang rape incidents of Jammu & Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders said that United Nations War Crime Tribunal should held accountable all the Indian army personals for the gang rapes and other war crimes in Jammu & Kashmir like they did in the case of Bosnia war crimes.
