The Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education conducted a one day workshop on Vocational Education Assessment Scheme on Saturday. Primarily, the objective of conducting such programmes have been harmonized to facilitate the School Education department to promote skill development courses in the schools. Besides, invariably inclination to provide alternate Vocational Education with the ongoing system of education.The J&K Govt. introduced the scheme of Vocationalization of Secondary & Hr. Secondary Education during the year 2014 l5 in 132 Schools. Four (04) courses viz IT & ITES, Retuil, Tourism & Health care have been identified out of which two courses to each school have been allotted. Accordingly, JKBOSE had already made the curriculum and courseware available to schools as per the provision in the scheme framed by Department of School Education, MHRD, Govt of India, in order to meet National standards for competencies and other applicable norms to ensure quality and relevance in conformity with the norms and the standard laid down. JKBOSE in collaboration with PSSCIVE Bhopal, conducted orientation programme for key functionaries i.e Principals of the selected schools in the year 201 5 in the Ist phase. The purpose of organizing this programme was to review implementation of vocational education and devise the scheme of assessment, scheme of ITUDTES incorporating vocational education and certification framework. Experts from CBSE, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana State and other technical experts from NSDC, University of Kashmir, were invited to have the scheme in conformity with National standard.

While inaugurating, the Chairman BOSE (Prof, Zahoor Ahmad Chau) Vehg Wentu emphasized upon the essence and significance of Vocationalization of Education. He also highlighted the merits and skill reformation can made induction in corporate sector which in turn boost the skilled manpower and strengthen the economic reformation. The tendency of current general education system shall have the coordination and integration with the skilled education system. Accordingly, course content was devised by the JKBOSE and assigned the responsibility of imparting the vocationol education in 132 Institutions identified by the Govt across the state of J&K.There is need for demand of corporate World. The Chairman emphasized the need; redressal of problems and address the constrains being faced at gross root level for implementation of scheme. JKBOSE has taken initiative to bring all Departments and Industries in the Stat3' to sensitize the importance and implementation of the 'r"hr*r.The Director School Education, Dr. Shah Faisal (MS) expressed the view that the enthusiasm among the student community in terms of vocational education is encouraging and needs more and more attention to make the scheme more applicable.Swagat Biswas (MS), State Project Directory, RMSA mentioned about the implementation status in the schools and the strategies being adopted by RMSA.Prasada Rao, Director Vocational Education, CBSE and Haryana Board also enlightened about the scheme. In the welcome address, Kaneez Fatima, Director Academics highlighted the importance of implementation of vocational education scheme and the agenda items.He expressed that this initiative is taken by JKBOSE to have a common strateg/ right from planning to execution, implementation, feedback and correction steps for the implementation of the vocational education in the schools of J&K.K.K Agnihotri, Advisor NSQF, Haryana State thoroughly expressed his views about the scheme and emphasized to devise a healthy for frame work for Vocationalization of education to witness a unique and remarkable job oriented atmosphere in the state of J&K. He explicitly exposed the utility of vocational education scheme of other states and shared his professional inputs experienced in other states of India with a view to empower the youth in the outside job market and industrial scenario.
