MLA Langate Er Rasheed Monday sustained injuries after police foiled an anti BJP-PDP march in South Kashmir’s Ananthnag district. As per Awami Itihaad Party statement, despite police strict restrictions, hundreds of people assembled in Lal-Chowk Ananthnag holding banners and play-cards and started raising slogans against government proposal to construct composite townships, sainik colonies, NEET issue, providing temporary shelters to non-state subjects and industrial policy.Police quickly swung into action and used force to disperse protestors led by Er Rasheed. In the process four persons including Er Rasheed sustained minor injuries. Despite sustaining injuries police didn’t shifted Er Rasheed to hospital and arrested him along with dozens of supporters and lodged them in police station Ananthnag.

However on directions of Hon’ble Court, a team of doctors examined Er Rasheed and provided him first aid. However despite the advice by the doctors of district hospital Ananthnag police didn’t shift him to hospital for further check-up and snatched the prescription given by doctors.”The party statement reads that Engineer Rasheed was hurled with abuses and some cops tried to manhandle him again and  threatened him of dire consequences inside the police station.Talking to media persons after his release Er Rasheed accused PDP of forcing police to work for the political interests of PDP-BJP coalition and alleged that there was no reason or logic to use force against the peaceful march. “In fact PDP is scared of AIP’s increasing support in masses and as such is crossing all the moralities and legalities to use state administration as its tool. However party will not surrender its agenda and will continue to protect the religious, cultural and social character of the state besides working for peaceful resolution to Kashmir dispute.” (CNS)
