Former Union Minister and Senior Congress Leader Prof. Saifuddin Soz, has written to the Union Minister of Railways Monday to ensure clean and disciplined Rail Service in Kashmir. "I am not a Railway Commuter as my mode of transport is different. But, when the Rail service started in Kashmir, I had joined the celebration.

“This service is very valuable to Kashmir. It is convenient, cheap, time-saving. The operation has to remain clean and this service should run in discipline.”Soz said that from a distance, he keep an eye on the service.“Now, the reports are that the law abiding citizens get punished both ways-- on the part of Railway officers and some rowdies who are ticket-less commuters (which is now reportedly a routine for some people). It is those who indulge in this kind of behaviour who have no respect for civil laws. Such people also don’t show respect to elders and women.

“The trains are dirty and window panes are not provided and fans are not functional .The Railways say that People themselves call in venders supplying all kind of eatables, particularly junk food. Then the dirt is thrown on the floor. This causes an unhealthy and unclean atmosphere. The law-abiding travelers have to clean their seats themselves. It is a sad story of indiscipline acceptable to Railways.”“After alerting the CEO of the J&K Railway service, I wrote to Union Minister of Railways today, to ensure a clean and disciplined Rail Service in Kashmir. I feel the general public will support a timely, clean, and disciplined Rail service in Kashmir." (KNS)
