Secretary Labour & Employment, Ms. Nirmal Sharma, today inspected the  District Employment and Counseling Centre (DECC), Samba which is being upgraded as Model Career Centre (MCC) under the National Career Service Scheme to be implemented by Director General of Employment and Training, Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with the state government.Joint Director Employment Jammu Jyoti Rani Salathia, Assistant Director Employment, Samba, Naresh Kumar, Assistant Director Employment Jammu Sulakshna Thakur and other officers accompanied the Secretary during the visit.The Secretary reviewed the functioning of the centre and status of   online registration of Unemployed Youth, Counsellors, Employer and Skill Development institute on National Career Service Portal. She also interacted with the youth who were present in the MCC for registration under NCS and took first hand appraisal of the service provided to them.

She directed the officers to increase the on-line registration of job seekers and job providers under National Career Service in a time bound manner so that maximum youth can avail the benefit through the Model Career Centre. She directed to create maximum awareness among the stake holders like skill training institutes, school and college administration, Government Departments, PRIs and public in general regarding the services including registration, counselling and job placement being provided by Model Career Centre. She asked the officers for conducting a  survey of catchment area with regard to job skill mapping for  identification of employment avenues for candidates registered with the DECC’s besides increasing the pace of outreach activities  to provide better career counseling   in schools and colleges.Pertinent to mention that the National Career Service (NCS) aims to provide employment related services by connecting  local youth and other job seeker with all possible job opportunities on NCS portal in transparent and effective manner making use of latest technology, Counseling and Training
