The 4th meeting of Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here under the chairmanship of Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College.At a brief function here Maj. Gen. Sharma launched the official website of the College i.e. www.smvdnursing.org.Among those who participated in the Governing Body meeting included Mr. A. K. Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Mr. Subrato Deb, Librarian, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University; Dr. (Brig.) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH; and Dr. Shailla Cannie, Principal of SMVDCoN. Dr. M. K. Kumar and Dr. Piyush Singla, Additional CEOs of the Board attended the website release function.The website of the College of Nursing contains all relevant information required by the students about the admission process and about the infrastructure and other facilities. Students can also download the prospectus and admission form online and use it for making an application.

The Governing Body was informed that all required approvals and affiliations have been obtained from the concerned authorities and the Selection Committee has been constituted for the admission of students for the first batch of the College of Nursing which has been established by the Shrine Board for imparting quality education in Nursing.The Governing Body was apprised that a simple one page application form has been designed and the applicants do not need to attach any certificate with the form. The College shall take decisions based on the student's personal declaration and the original certificates will be shown by the selected candidates after finalisation of the selection list. The candidates will be selected based on the marks obtained in the 10+2 and equivalent examinations and an aptitude assessment interview. 90% weightage will be given to the marks of 10+2 exam while the interview shall have 10% weightage. It is pertinent to mention that besides the online mode, the application forms for the first Batch admission to the College are available at Vaishnavi Dham at Jammu; Spiritual Growth Centre at Katra; and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing, Kakryal. The last date for receipt of applications is 15 June 2016 and the interviews shall be organized from 25 June 2016 onwards. The classes will commence in July this year.

While reviewing the action taken on the decisions of the previous meeting of the Governing Body and discussing the various agenda items of the 4th Governing Body, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Sharma underscored the crucial need for making untiring efforts by all the stakeholders to nurture the SMVDCoN as a front rank institution for imparting quality education in the discipline of nursing so that the alumni of this College serve the society at large with distinction. He expressed satisfaction that all the requisite logistics, labs, library, hostel facilities for students and the Faculty have been positioned well in advance for starting classes as per the envisaged schedule.While reviewing the circulation of prospectus of the SMVDCoN, the CEO of the Shrine Board stressed that the prospectus must be made available at various counters for easy access of the candidates who are interested in applying for the B. Sc. Nursing Course.
