Jammu and Kashmir has strongly pitched for continuation of the existing state-level system of entrance examination for admission to MBBS and BDS courses instead of NEET.Member Parliament, Mr Fayaz Ahmad Mir, who represented J&K at the All Party Meeting convened by the Union Finance Minister, Mr Arun Jaitley, here the other day, flagged the concerns of the State Government on the issue.Mr Mir, who attended the meeting on the directions of the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, told the forum that while other states have concerns like language and syllabus, Jammu and Kashmir has a strong case on the basis of its special status and it should be allowed to continue the established process for selection to these professional courses.Mr Mir said Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations Act-2002 accords functional autonomy to BOPEE to conduct the entrance test in a transparent manner free from any external interference of extraneous considerations and the system put in place by the J&K Government needs to be continued.
