Saying that the State Government is well aware of the issues of Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) engaged in various departments, Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr Sham Lal Choudhary today said a committee has already been constituted for Aadhar based verification of all such workers so that the future course of action could be charted out by the Government. The Minister was interacting with a deputation of J&K Employees and Workers Association (JKEWA) led by its chairman Mir Tariq Pampori who called on the Minister here today. The Minister said the Coalition Government is committed for the development and welfare of the people of the state and various initiatives have been taken in this regards.  He said the people have pinned hopes on the present Government and it is the prime duty of the government to fulfill the aspirations of the people by formulating new welfare policies and programmes.Mr. Sham Choudhary said the issue of regularization of DRWs was come to fore in the very first Cabinet meeting of the present Government. He said it was decided that the Committee formulated for the purpose will complete Aadhar based verification of all such workers and submit its reports within 3 months following which a policy will be devised for their regularization. He said it was also decided for creation of separate Wage Head so that regular wages are provided to these workers.

While complementing the Minister for taking over the charge of the Ministry, the JKEWA deputation projected a charter of demands including regularization of those workers who have been verified  by the Departmental Committees, regularization of DRWs who have completed 10 to 20 years  of service in the department,  adoption of policy for regularization of all the casual labourers engaged from 1994 to March 2015, enhancement of monthly wages, release of pending wages and benefits to kin of those DRWs who die in harness.  The Minister assured the deputation that their genuine demands are already in the knowledge of the Government and would be addressed on merits. He termed the services of these workers vital for implementing various schemes on ground. He urged upon them to work with missionary zeal and dedication to extend their services to the people.
