AMK releases four books, puts its journal online

Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), Kashmir’s biggest and oldest literary and cultural federation Thursday unveiled four books in Kashmiri and Urdu languages at an impressive function held here. Its quarterly bi lingual journal Prave was also put online and will be available to readers worldwide.A galaxy of writers, scholars, poets and students were present at the function presided over by distinguished poet Prof Rehman Rahi. Noted Urdu writer Noor Shah was the chief guest and US based Kashmiri poet Muzaffar Aazim was guest of honour. Director Radio Kashmir Syed Humayun Qaisar and Secretary J & K Cultural Academy Dr Aziz Hajini were also in presidium. The books which were released included the journey of Adbee Markaz Kamraz authored by Riyazul Hassan, Saen Asnaf e Sukhan by Late Nishat Ansari, Gash Paghuk by Shabir Hussain Shabir and Neelima (Urdu novel) by Shafaq Sopori. Papers on the books were read by Dr Mushtaq Haider, Prof Shad Ramzan and Nissar Nadeem. They hailed the authors for their work. Radio Kashmir Srinagar had collaborated with AMK in organizing the programme. On this occasion the e-version of AMK’s quarterly bilingual journal Prave was launched. It became first such magazine in Kashmiri language top be on the web.

Prof Rahi commended the AMK for taking up the struggle for protection and preservation of Kashmiri language. “Existence of Kashmiri language’s renaissance is linked to AMK” he said adding that its efforts have brought this language out from oblivion and “we hope that it will continue to work with same zeal and zest”. Noor Shah also lauded the AMK and pleaded that it should have a separate wing for promotion of Urdu. Dr Aziz Hajini said that AMK has been the flag bearer of linguistic movement in Kashmir. He asked the members not to be complacent and work with more dedication. Syed Humayun Qaisar, Muzaffar Azim and Editor Prave Abdul Ahad Hajini also spoke on the occasion.Among those who attended the function were Ghulam Nabi Khayal, Prof Nasim Shifai, Rafiq Raaz, Farooq Nazki, former CIC G R Sufi, DR Altaf Hussain, Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Nazir Azad, Rafiq Masoodi, G R Hasrat Gadda, Dr Abdul Wahid, Prof Nusrat Andrabi, Dr Mubarak Ahmad, Mohammad Shafi Pandit, Mohammad Sayeed Malik, Shabir Mujahid, Dr Farooq Fayaz, Afaq Aziz and Riyaz Khaki.
