Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary, who is also Chairman of District Development Board Ganderbal District, today visited the district headquarter and chaired a review-cum- interactive meeting of district officers there.Reviewing the pace of progress of on-going developmental projects sector-wise and project-wise, the Minister urged upon the concerned for completion of projects in time bound manner strictly adhering with the use of quality material. He called for judicious use of funds and completion of under execution projects within available resources. He asked the concerned for attending the people on priority in addressing their grievances relating to their departments.Issuing on-the-spot directions for making functional the street lights , the Minister also asked for covering all the schools with water connections and submission of report within 10 days in this regards.
Giving brief of the developmental activities being carried out under core sectors in the district, Deputy Commissioner, Mr.Tariq Hussain Ganai briefed the minister about various developmental projects in the district saying that the district is known for willow- making centres , heritage, pilgrim and religious tourism and there is great influx of tourists and pilgrims during summer and yatra period.
Addressing the Awami Darbar at Ganderbal, Mr. Sham Choudhary said that the agenda of present Government is to provide basic amenities to the people of the State at every nook and corner with cooperation of the people. Later, Mr. Sham Choudhary visited Water Treatment Plant at Rangil and took stock of its functioning. He inspected various units of the plant including laboratory, flash mixer cum stilling chamber, store, filter and chlorination house. He checked the stock register and asked for lifting sample of treated water for further laboratory check. Inspecting the damaged portion of Rangil Plant Canal Head, he asked the concerned for taking immediate steps for its permanent restoration.En-route, a number of deputations and individuals at Malsai bagh, Tulamulla and Ganderbal met the Minister and projected their demands. He heard them patiently and assured that their genuine demands would be fulfilled in phased manner.Earlier, the Minister paid obeisance at Shankaracharya temple and Kheerbhawani temple Tulamulla and prayed for peace and prosperity of the State.Among others, legislator Dr. Devinder Kumar Maniyal and district officers also accompanied the Minister during the tour.
