Condemning the onslaught on Kashmir’s specific regional, cultural and religious identity by Government of India, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Wednesday said, interference in the educational and administrative institutions was an attempt to dilute the special status of the state and deny the people of the state control over these institutions.Addressing a massive public gathering at Shanglipora Noorbagh, the Mirwaiz according to trhe statement issued to KNS said placing curbs on the peaceful activities of the resistance leadership is a part of the government policy to strangulate the voice of the leadership and suppress the people of Jammu Kashmir.Terming the seeking of assurance from the army and forces officials by the Chief Minister to avoid civilian killings during mob control and her desire of removing bunkers from civilian areas as an attempt to play to the galleries, the APHC Chairman said that these camps and bunkers remain the main cause of tension in these areas resulting in the killings of innocent people on slight disturbance and all promises of their removal so far have been proved hollow.

The Mirwaiz said instead of making hollow claims the PDP Chief Minister should do walk the talk on the promises of removing AFSPA and other black laws from the state because these laws have proved to be the main cause of killing and atrocities on the unarmed civilian population of Kashmir and without the abrogation of these laws stopping of innocent civilian killings is not possible.Stressing that without carrying demilitrisation of Kashmir, an atmosphere of peace could not be created in the region, the Mirwaiz said the probes ordered into the incidents of killings of innocent people have always proved to be a divertive tactics in order to mislead the common masses and to allow the guilty to go scot-free. He questioned why the government had failed to bring the guilty forces involved in the recent killing of five persons in north Kashmir’s Handwara and Kupwara areas to justice.Appealing the people to make the Hafta-e-Shahadat programme, which starts from May 16, a grand success he said while people had offered uncountable sacrifices for the ongoing resistance movement, religious and resistance leadership too offered their lives for the great cause of Kashmir.

Stressing to take the mission of the top resistance leaders including Shaheed-e-Millat, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq; Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone and Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz and thousands of Kashmiri martyrs to its logical conclusion, the APHC Chairman said this could be done only when the entire nation shows its complete involvement, steadfastness and consistency towards the ongoing resistance movement.Earlier, addressing a Seerat conference at Masjid Hazrat Abu Bakr Sidiq at Shanglipora Noorbagh, the Mirwaiz called for following the teachings of Quran and Sunnah and said this was the only way for the Muslim Ummah to rid itself of the problems it was facing and urged Muslims of Kashmir to follow these teachings in letter and spirit.Calling Kashmir a land of Walis and Reshis, the Mirwaiz said unfortunately the situation people were caught in now-a-day did not prove to be in sync with the teachings of these religious figures.
