Dr.Charnjit Singh Atwal, Speaker, Punjab Vidhan Sabha, returned after representing India and the State of Punjab at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, U.S.A and House of Lords, london U.K where the 125th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr.Bhim Rao Ambedkar was observed and meets Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi at Parliament House, Delhi.An official spokesman of the Vidhan Sabha Speaker said that Dr. Atwal submitted his report to Prime Minister and proposed that the Birthday of Baba Saheb i.e. 14th of April should be declared as International Equality Day and written communication should be sent to the UN regarding this.
The spokesman said that the Prime Minister appreciated the way in which Dr. Atwal represented India and Punjab Government besides making the gathering of World leaders aware about life and glorious teachings of Baba Saheb.The spokesman further said that Dr.Charnjit Singh Atwal was invited as a special guest of honour at both the places where he won many hearts through his heart rending tribute to Dr.B. R Ambedkar whose 125th birth anniversary is being celebrated world wide.
