A special session of the Working Committee of Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee chaired by the organisation’s President, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq and attended by party’s top office bearers, district presidents and members was held at Mirwaiz Manzil in Nigeen.During the meeting, the Working Committee took stock of the deteriorating political situation in Kashmir including the climbing graph of human rights violations, state aggression besides various organizational issues. The meeting also gave final shape to the Hafta-e-Shahadat programme marking the 26th martyrdom anniversary of the founder of the Awami Action Committee (AAC), Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and the Martyrs of Hawal of May 21, 1990.The Working Committee paid glowing tributes to the AAC founder, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and 67 others who were martyred at Hawal for sacrificing their lives and said that the cause which the Shaheed-e-Millat perused, from laying the foundation of the organisation upto the time of his achieving martyrdom, would be taken to its logical conclusion and nothing would be allowed to come in its way.
During the meeting, it was resolved that people like in the past would this year also, pay glowing tributes to the Shaheed-e-Millat for his religious, political and social contribution towards Kashmir, remembering his sacrifices, his martyrdom and the martyrdom of the Martyrs of Hawal and thousands of other martyrs. It was also resolved that AAC would take these sacrifices to the logical conclusion by carrying forward its peaceful political struggle according to the mission and tradition of the organization.Stressing that Kashmir’s resistance movement, which was soaked with the blood of lakhs of martyrs, was passing through a critical stage of the history when the government was trying to crush the resistance leadership in general and the APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq is particular by placing curbs on his political, social and religious activities, the Working Committee meeting highlighted that the activists of pro-freedom groups and APHC office bearers were often being detained in various jails while various plans were being executed to annihilate the future Kashmiri generation. The Working Committee meeting pointed out that in such a situation, AAC’s Haftaa-e-Shahadat programme would prove to be a sensible and strong strategy and provide an opportunity for the pro-freedom people of Kashmir, who are at the receiving end of the state-sponsored terrorism, aggression and victimization, to give an expression of unity, consistency, and involvement towards the ongoing resistance movement.
