Jammu and Kashmir is likely to get respite from scorching heat, especially the Jammu region, as the meteorological department on Tuesday forecast light rain over the next three days."We are expecting light rain in J&K for three days beginning today. This will bring some relief from the heat wave conditions being witnessed in the Jammu region," an official of the meteorological office told IANS."Maximum temperature touched 42.4 degree yesterday (Monday) which was the highest recorded so far this summer in Jammu." The minimum temperature was 26.7 degrees in Jammu city on Tuesday which according to the meteorological department is three degrees above normal."The minimum temperature was 24.7 in Katra town today while it was 16.0 in Batote, 11.7 in Banihal, 12.6 in Bhaderwah and 19.2 in Udhampur town of Jammu region today," the met official said."In the Valley, Srinagar city recorded 9.9, Gulmarg 10 and Pahalgam 8.7 as the minimum temperatures today.""Leh town recorded 5.8 while Kargil 2.7 degrees as the day's minimum in the Ladakh region of the state," the official said.
