Shemrock Senior Secondary School organised an inter-school declamation contest at its campus. As many as 26 schools of the tri-city participated in this contest. The two topics for the declamation were all cats love fish but fear to get paws wet and if you walk in the footprints of others you won't make one of your own. The students were encouraged to speak boldly and confidently. The winners were selected on the basis of style of language, Structure theme, Impact.Aadi Tayal and Irish Mongia of St John's School bagged the first and third position and Aekam Sohal from Smart Wonders Mohali bagged the second prize in the competition.First consolation prize was won by Kashvi of AKSIPS-41 and second consolation prize won by Jagtar Singh of Saupins School Sector -70 .
While Speaking at the moment Education Director Shemrock School, S K Sharma said that by participating in such declamation contests students learn the skills of combining eloquent language with equally eloquent delivery which is basic purpose of the education .According to him Educational goals of developing intelligence articulate character strengths, Creativity, ingenuity, optimism, industry, diligence, and perseverance which can be gained by participating in different competitions and declamation is a fantastic speaking event to improve public speaking prowess. It provides opportunity for budding youth to show their hidden talent.
