Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Thursday expressed grave concern over attempts being made to radicalise Kashmir society and to polarise situation in the Jammu Province with a sinister design of weakening single entity of the state.“There is a method in fragmenting society into bits and pieces; and if the developments of past few years are taken into account, it will become clear how forces inimical to Jammu and Kashmir’s unique and special entity are working clandestinely but in a synergised manner to trample its time tested ethos”, Rana said while addressing workers’ meeting at Panjua in Sagoon in the Nagrota Assembly Constituency.Rana made a passionate appeal to the right thinking and progressive people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh to ponder over the reasons that have brought the state to such a morass. “We should identify the causes that have created mistrust and expose the elements behind such sinister machinations”, he said and hoped that the sagacious people will rise above political affiliations and suggest way forward in isolating such forces, which he stated were very few. He said the vast majority believes in unity of the state, tranquility between regions and amity among communities, irrespective of caste, creed and colour.

He said the politics of Jammu and Kashmir is subtly being diverted towards hate and mistrust by sowing seeds of discord within communities, on the one side, and between regions on the other. He said the sinister developments during the past over a decade and a half stand testimony to the fact that there is definite design to create wedge between the people of various faiths and regions in the state. “This is a dangerous trend, which is not in the interest of any segment of society or region”, he said and hoped that the people will realize the danger of trampling the special character of this unique state.Without mentioning any party, Rana said that certain political elements were vitiating atmosphere to maintain their hegemony over the political landscape of the state as they have benefited from radicalizing and polarizing the situation. “The duplicity and deceit of these elements has harmed the state adversely and is bound to lay a negative impact over the unity and single entity of Jammu and Kashmir”, he cautioned.

The Provincial President described the fascist and reactionary forces as two faces of the same coin, which were trying to strengthen their constituencies by bringing people of the two regions and different faiths on eyeball to eyeball situation and said their treacherous role in fragmenting the society stands fully exposed. He exuded confidence that the sagacious people of all the three regions will join together and foil the machinations being perpetrated to destroy secular fabric and undermine unity of the people.Rana said National Conference will not allow the peace inimical agents to succeed and urged the cadre to generate awareness among masses about sinister game-plan of the ruling alliance. “National Conference has always stood against such forces which for sake of power bartered the interests of the people”, he maintained.

The Provincial President said the support of people has been biggest strength of National Conference which is committed, not only to maintain single entity of the state, but also cementing relations between various communities and the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said anti-people elements might have registered victory by exploiting public sentiment but they cannot hide anymore like ostrich.Rana made exhorted the people to see through the ugly game-plan of anti-people elements and frustrate their designs by strengthening unity and amity.Present on the occasion included Dharamveer Singh Jamwal, Sarpanch Advocate Subash Singh, Sarpanch Khursheed Mohammed, Chato Ram, Parkash Singh, Onkar Singh, Karan Singh and others.
