Punjab to be the best Indian state in ‘Ease of doing Business’ by May 30 –Sukhbir Singh Badal

Chief Secretary to hold review meetings every Monday to assess performance of concerned departments

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has set May 30 as target to make Punjab as the best Indian state in ‘ease of doing business’. He issued instructions to all the concerned departments to contribute their best in this regards and asked the Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal to hold review meetings on every Monday to assess the performance of concerned departments in this regard.Chairing a review meeting to further improve the business climate in the state Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that Punjab would be the best on all aspects counted during evaluating the level of ease of doing business.Expressing satisfaction over the progress and performance of various departments after screening a presentation, Mr. Badal directed concerned departments to make all registration and clearances processes more easier besides removal of impediments if any. He asked the concerned officers to comply with all suggestions which were to be reviewed in next meeting on May 20 and the Chief Secretary hold review meetings on every Monday in this regard.

Earlier, CEO Invest Punjab Anirudh Tiwari apprised that 7 out of 10 announcements made by him (Deputy CM) during Invest Punjab Summit-2015 were accomplished and work on three others was in progress. He informed that labour department had issued orders to all the field officers not to conduct inspections without prior permission of labour commissioner and department of industries & commerce had also notified for self certification of documents and third party annual inspection of boilers, thus no boiler inspector shall visit any industry unless requested for such inspection by the concerned unit.He also apprised the Deputy CM that necessary office orders had also been issued that electrical inspector will not inspect any firm unless requested by the owner. Similarly excise and taxation department had notified to issue permanent TIN in seven days and for issuing construction permit to industry a joint inspection would be carried out by all the concerned agencies which includes town & country planning, fire department and airport authority. He told that Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) had also ordered for auto renewal of CTO to green and orange category industries without any inspection.

He further added that proposal to setup Rs. 100 crore startup fund was in progress as provision for this had already been made in the budget 2016-17 and it would be rolled out shortly.Prominent among others present in the meeting included Addl. Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, Media Advisor to Deputy CM Jangveer Singh, Secretary Local Government Vikas Pratap, Principal Secretary, Forest & Wild Life, Civil Aviation, Labour and Housing & Urban Development Viswajeet Khanna, Secretary Power A. Venu Prasad,  Secretary Education Dr. G. Vajralingam, Additional CEO Invest Punjab D.K. Tiwari, Special Principal Secretaries to Deputy CM Rahul Tiwari, Manvesh Singh Sidhu and Ajay Mahajan.
