Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat handed over the keys of four eco ambulances worth Rs. 17 lakh, two portable X-ray machines costing Rs. 5.20 lakh, 50 number of benches of worth Rs. 3.25 lakh and cash assistance of Rs. 5 lakh for the poor patients, being provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd (JKBL) under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative to the Principal of the Government Medical College, Jammu, Dr. Zahid H. Gillani, here today.

Expressing gratitude to the Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd for contributing to this noble cause, the Minister said that the initiative will go a long way in improving the healthcare and diagnostic facilities in the Government Medical College and its associated hospitals. He urged the concerned to make judicious and rational use of the Ambulances and other equipment received from the JKBL. He also made fervent appeal to the corporate sector and other social organizations to come forward and contribute liberally in supplementing the government efforts in improving the health services in the government run health institutions.

While interacting with the media, the Minister said that health sector has been accorded top-most priority by the present government and all out efforts will be made to rejuvenate its entire set up across the State.  He said the Government will take concrete steps to strengthen the rural health infrastructure to meet the needs of the people. He said the entire machinery will be made accountable for implementing the government programmes effectively on ground so that the benefits reach out to the needy. He also called upon the medical fraternity to work with zeal and dedication to provide best services to the patients.Besides several senior faculty members, Medical Superintendents of GMCH, Super Specialty Hospital and SMGS, Dr. Rabinder Rattanpal, Dr. Romesh Gupta and Dr. Dara Singh were also present on the occasion.
