Reiterating the firm commitment of state government to give further fillip to overall development of the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today sanctioned a sum of Rs 3.70 crore for the construction of new roads in Mohali. Presiding over a meeting to review the development works of Mohali with Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra here at his residence this evening, the Chief Minister said that the construction of new roads would help in assuring hassle free movement to the commuters besides saving their time, money and energy. He asked the officers to ensure the optimum utilization of these funds so that residents of Mohali could be immensely benefitted from it.Badal said that the state government was making all out efforts to ensure holistic development of all the towns in the state.Dwelling on another issue, the Chief Minister underscored the need to expedite the process of constructing houses for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of the society. 

He asked the officers to make efforts on war footing for providing houses to these poor strata of the society, at the earliest. Referring to another demand made by Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, the Chief Minister assured him that the state government would take up the matter of increasing the frequency of bus service between Chandigarh-Mohali, to and fro, with the UT administration so that residents of Mohali could be immensely benefitted from it. He asked the officers to submit a detailed plan in this regard so that it could be taken with the UT authorities.Prominent amongst other present in the meeting included Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Akali leader Mr. Harinder Pal Singh Chandumajra, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. SK Sandhu, Chief Administrator GMADA Mr. AK Sinha, MD PSIEC Mr. Amit Dhaka, Deputy Commissioner Mr. DS Mangat and Joint Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Kumar Amit.
