Bollywood actor Mukesh Rishi extensively toured various remote areas of District Udhampur today for firsthand experience of more than 114 bridges being constructed for remote schools, remote hamlets, and livestock routes and ration transportation tracks apart from traditional paths in difficult hilly terrains which posed a grave threat to human life with several people washed away every year.While addressing the gathering, Mukesh Rishi termed Project Rahat as a noble initiative which is changing lives of thousands of people in rural areas, linking them with unique approach of participatory development, securing education for children and saving lives. He appreciated that thought and planning behind the project and its prompt implementation within a period of 6 months as half of the target has already been completed. Appreciating the efforts of DDC Udhampur Dr Shahid, he extended support for the project and to work with missionary zeal for further expansion of the project with support from film industry, private sector, NGOs and other likeminded organizations for upliftment of rural masses. MLA Udhampur Pawan Kumar Gupta also thanked Mukesh Rishi for joining with a historic project which has a made a mark in hundreds of villages and hoped for his continued support. He congratulated DDC Shahid Iqbal and his team for this outstanding project.DIG Surinder Gupta, SSP Suleiman Choudhary, ADDC Arvind Sharma, ADC A S Rana, JDP Rakesh Jamwal, ACD Joginder Rai, PO DRDA Dr Jagdish Mehra and all senior officers of district administration were also present.
