The students of Kashmir University Monday staged protest against ‘harassment of students by Jammu and Kashmir Police and proctorial staff’ in the varsity premises.According to the students, during the solidarity protest organized by varsity students against the attacks on Kashmiri students studying outside the state, they were harassed by cops and proctorial staff in the varsity premises.A student wishing anonymity told KNS that they were holding peaceful protest outside Humanities block in the varsity against the harassment and assault on Kashmiri students studying outside the state. “During the peaceful protest some police personnel and proctorial staff harassed us and snatched identity cards of a few students as well. They also threatened us that they will ruin our career,” he said. They said that after the protesting students held massive protests, identity cards were returned. The students also said that harassment and assault on Kashmiri students studying outside seems no end as with each passing day the assaults on students are increasing. They said that NIT issue was unnecessarily highlighted while the harassment on Kashmir students outside the students is being ignored. “We demand that the students studying outside the state should be given security,” they said.Despite repeated attempts, varsity official couldn’t be contacted for the comments.
