Weatherman predicts more rains till Apr 12

Says no forecast of heavy rainfall during these days

With no respite from the rains in plains as well as in higher reaches from last couple of days, the weatherman here has predicted more rains till 12th of this month.Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus told KNS the weather would continue to remain wet in the Valley till Tuesday of next week. ‘Light to moderate rains would continue to occur occasionally in plains as well as in higher reaches but there is no forecast of heavy rains during these days,’ Lotus said.He said that intermittent rains would occur in the Valley with occasionally sunshine as well. ‘Weather would mostly remain cloudy during these days,’ he said.Lotus told KNS that the weather conditions would gradually improve from 12th of this month.Meanwhile, despite rains, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the only road connecting Valley with rest of the country remained open for the vehicular movement.According to an official in the Traffic Police department, the vehicles are being allowed to ply from time to time. ‘Authorities allow Light Motor Vehicles (LMV) coming from Srinagar-Jammu from 05:00am to 3:00pm while Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV) will be allowed to ply from 06:00 to 01:00am,’ he said.He said that LMV from Jammu-Srinagar will be allowed to ply from 04:00 to 12:00.
