In order to discuss arrangements for 2-days historical Billawar Baisakhi Mela, DDC Kathua Ramesh Kumar convened a meeting of officers and members of the Mela committee here today.In the meeting it was informed that the two day Mela will be organised at Naaz Sports Ground, Billawar. The DDC constituted a committee headed by ADC Ravinder Kumar, ACD Sunil Sharma and SDM Billawar R.S Charak to finalize the calendar of activities and necessary arrangements for the mela.The DDC informed that the district Administration will make all necessary arrangements for the success of two day historic Mela. He held threadbare discussions on the arrangements related to provision of drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, security arrangements, cleanliness and sanitation in and around the Mela ground, parking, seating arrangements and installation of stalls were finalized.He exhorted upon the officers to work in coordination with the mela committee to make the event a grand success. He directed the departments of horticulture, handicraft, handloom and other departments to educate people about various state and centrally sponsored schemes and programmes. The DDC informed the meeting that during the Mela, competition of various disciplines of sports, cultural items depicting rich Dogra and Pahari culture by the local artists will also be presented Members of Mela committee also gave their suggestions which were discussed in detail during the meeting. Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Additional SP Kathua, RTO, ACD, XEN PDD, XEN PHE, TO PWD (R&B), Tehsildar (HQ), Tehsildar Billawar, EO Billawar Municipality, district officers, members of the Mela Committee also attended the meeting.
