Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal has stated that the “Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Darshan Scheme” has been well received by a large section of people from all religions. He said that under this scheme, the Punjab government is providing free pilgrimage to sacred cities of Nanded (Shri Hazoor Sahib), Varanasi, Katra (Mata Vaishno Devi) and Ajmer Sharif. Dr Atwal said that this scheme has been started for the welfare of people and with the efforts of Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy CM Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal.While addressing impressive gatherings at villages Rano, Ghudani Kalan, Dhamot Kalan, Jandiali, Nizampur, Sihara and Sirthala, Dr Atwal said that the train for Takhat Sri Hazoor Sahib from Payal constituency would leave on May 31, 2016 and a large section of people should get themselves registered if they want to travel. He said that if any person is interested, he or she can contact his staff anytime and get themselves registered at the earliest. Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal said that this scheme would cost the Punjab government nearly Rs.187 crore.While further speaking on the occasion, Dr Atwal said that under this ambitious scheme, around 1,000 people from each assembly constituency would be offered this facility of free travel to these pilgrimage centres and the pilgrims would be served food during the travel without any charge.While distributing cheques for development works in the above mentioned villages, Dr Atwal said that there is no shortage of funds when it comes to development with the Punjab government.
