Jammu and Kashmir Police Hockey team clinched title trophy of State Hockey Championship organized by J&K Hockey Association at K K Hakku AstroTurf Hockey Stadium here in Jammu. In the title clash played yesterday, J&K Police outplayed Jammu Rural by 6-0 to finish as State champions. Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Police Hockey Team outplayed BSF Kashmir Frontier, BSF Jammu, Jammu Cantonment to cruise into finals of the championship. The championship witnessed participation of more than eighteen teams that included BSF Kashmir Frontier, BSF Jammu, Jammu Cantonment, nine teams from different districts of Jammu division and five from Kashmir division. The competitions were inaugurated on 20th of this month.Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, J&K, Mr. Lalatendu Mohanti, today felicitated J&K Police Hockey Team for their performance in the prestigious State Championship organized. He said that these are proud moments for the organization when its players bring name and fame to it by exhibiting their extraordinary sports skills. While interacting with players, he said that team spirit, coordination and understanding among the players are pivotal to get desired results in sports. “These events always help a player to understand and feel pressure of National and International championships.
This is a launching pad and our team shall avail this opportunity, keep up confidence to become national champions in the game.”“Our players shall always aim to play at International level; such should be their confidence and practice. We will always extend our support to our best performers,” he added.He hoped that the players of J&K Police will play to best of its potential and bring laurels in future not only to organization but to country as well. He expressed the hope that Jammu and Kashmir Police teams will work on improving their game and prove their mettle to come up with best in future and become elite teams of the state.Among others, the felicitation function was attended by Mr. Deepak Kumar, IGP APHQ, Mr. Yoginder Koul, IGP IRP Jammu, Mr. Javed Iqbal Mattoo, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed, Kuldeep Handoo, Sports Officer J&K Police and players of J&K Police Hockey team.
