Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today asked the party cadres to be battle-ready for the elections as these could be announced anytime. He also announced the two ruling families of the Badals and the Majithias, who looted and robbed Punjab for last nine years will be held accountable for each and every penny they looted from Punjab and Punjabis.Addressing a largely attended public meeting at village Chimyari in Ajnala assembly segment organised by former legislator Harpartap Singh Ajnala here today, Capt Amarinder said, knowing the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal very well, he was capable of doing anything including going for snap polls to pre-empt further erosion of his support base. “Badal knows that his graph is going down badly and in order to salvage his situation he might go for early elections”, he said, while alerting the workers about possible early polls.

Referring to the Badals and the Majithias, he pointed out, how they had looted and robbed the state during last nine years. “While they are amassing huge wealth growing richer and richer, Punjab was getting poorer and poorer to the extent of going bankrupt”, he said, while adding, he will ensure that they are made to account for each penny they looted from Punjab.

Reiterating that the Congress party will go for only one ticket in each family, the PCC president said, compared to that the Badals have kept everything within their family. “They have seven ministers in the Punjab cabinet besides one in the union cabinet”, he said, adding, Badal could never look beyond his own self and the family. “What to speak of Punjab, he is not prepared to share anything even with his senior party colleagues”, he remarked.Capt Amarinder said, only he will contest the elections from his family. “We want to provide opportunities to others, to the youth and those who have a potential to grow as good leaders but do not have any family connections”, he said. The former Chief Minister also announced that the Congress government will ensure at least one job per family in Punjab. He assured the party workers that they will be given top priority in all the welfare schemes of the government. “It will be your government”, he told the workers.Prominent among those present included Harpartap Ajnala, Sukh Sarkaria, Sukhjinder Randhawa, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Gurjeet Aujla, Ramanjeet Singh Sikki and others.
