Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil today said that educated girls could play a proactive role in shaping the destiny of nation thereby fairly contributing in its socio-economic and political development. Accompanied by the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Lok Sabha MP Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal during his visit to the Dashmesh College of Girls here today, the Governor during his address laid thrust on the all-round development of the girls by equipping them with quality education. He said that as a matter of fact the girls due to their determination, dedication, sincerity and commitment have made inroads in almost all the fields which were once considered as bastion of males adding that these days most of the medals in the field of education were bagged by the girls which was a testimony to the fact that the girls were excelling in every field. Patil said that given an opportunity the girls could do any stupendous task and easily achieve their target for which they should be given enormous opportunities to showcase their ability and capacity, which was the need of the hour. Lauding the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for establishing this college of high repute and equipping it with world class facilities like that of shooting range, the Governor said that the towering personality and guidance of Badal has played a vital role in development of this college as an institution of par excellence. He said that the infrastructure, faculty and facilities been given in this college are much better than even some of the leading education institutions of the country. Patil also praised the students for achieving rare feats in the field of education, sports and extracurricular activities. “This college appears to be one of the finest educational institutions of the country” added Patil. Earlier welcoming the Governor, Badal in his address said that it was a rare honor for them to have a multifaceted personality like Patil amongst them. Badal also apprised the Governor that the state government has taken path breaking initiatives to provide quality education to the girls towards a step to for women empowerment, adding that the flagship program of state government to provide free bicycles to the school going girls under the Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme was enabling thousands of poor school going girls to get education.On the occasion Patil along with the Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal also visited the shooting range in the college campus. The Governor also appreciated Badal for setting up this shooting range in the rural area of the state which was playing a vital role in imparting Rifle training to the girls of the region.Later on the Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal also felicitated the Governor.
