Despite rains lash Valley since the wee hours of Friday morning, the Jammu and Kashmir National Highway, the only road connecting Kashmir with rest of the country remained open for one way traffic, an official said.An officials in the traffic police department told KNS that the one way traffic was through on the national highway. “The vehicles coming from Jammu to Srinagar are being allowed to ply on the highway,” he said.He said that if the landslides or shooting stones will occur at any places then they will immediately close the vehicular movement on the road for the safeguard of the passengers.According to Meteorological department (MeT), higher reaches as well as plains are receiving rains since the wee hours ofFriday morning while some higher reach areas witness rainfall from Thursday late evening. However, the department has said that the light to moderate rains would occur in plains while heavy rainfall would occur at higher reaches till March 27th of this month, which is likely to disrupt the vehicular movement on national highway during the next upcoming days. A few days ago, the Valley witnessed week long wet weather thereby resulted in closure of Srinagar-Jammu National highway for four consecutive days due to the landslides at various places triggered by heavy rainfall in the Valley.Several houses were also damaged due to the landslides.
