‘Irregularities’ in relief distribution sparked protest in Nowshera

A protest was held at the SDM Office Nowshera in Jammu Division to protest over the irregularities in the relief distribution to the affected people of last year’s  flood devastation, heavy loss of crops due to recent  rains and  hailstones and  supply of  wheat grain in place of  Atta and many other problems confronted to the people of the area.Speaking on the occasion Congress Chief Spokesperson. Sharma said that there was irregularities in the relief distribution to the affected people of last year’s rains and devastating flood. Many genuine people have been left whereas several others who suffered less damage or no damage haven been compensated. The concerned authorities should ensure that all the genuine leftover people are included in the fresh lists for relief/compensation.

Sharma said that in the recent rains and hailstones, the  farmers of Sunderbani,  Beripattan and part of Nowshera Tehsil  have suffered a huge loss. The Wheat crops, vegetables and the fruit crops and other live stock of the farmers have been adversely affected. He urged upon the concerned authorities to immediately rush the adhoc relief to the affected people, besides special teams comprising of departments of revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture and Sericulture etc. should be deputed to the affected areas to assess the loss, so that the affected people are compensated. He demanded free ration for affected people for 6 months, besides providing of seed and fertilizers on subsidized rates. (CNS)
