Governor N N Vohra reviewed internal and external Security management issues in an extended meeting involving Civil, Police, Army  and Central Intelligence Agencies, held at Raj Bhavan here today.The meeting was attended by Shri B.R. Sharma, Chief Secretary; Lt Gen D S Hooda, GOC-in-C, Northern Command; Shri K Durga Prasad, DG, CRPF; Shri K. Rajendra Kumar, DGP, J&K; Shri S K Bhagat, Special DG, CRPF; officers of Central Intelligence Agencies; Lt Gen. Satish Dua, GOC XV Corps;  Lt Gen R R Nimbhorkar, GOC XVI Corps; Shri P.K. Tripathi, Principal Secretary to Governor; Shri R K Goyal, Principal Secretary, Home; Shri S M Sahai, ADGP, CID; Shri Asgar Hassan Samoon, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Shri S J M Gillani, IGP, Kashmir; Shri Danish Rana, IGP Jammu; Shri Nalin Prabhat, IG, CRPF (Ops) Kashmir; Shri Atul Karwal, IG, CRPF (Adm) Kashmir; Shri Rakesh Sharma, IG, BSF Jammu; Shri Vikash Chandra, IG BSF Kashmir; and Shri Zulfikar Hasan, IG (Ops) CRPF Hqrs.

The Governor was informed about the redeployments undertaken to strengthen security management in the aftermath of the Pampore terror attack. DGP J&K and the heads of the Security Forces confirmed that the Multi Agency Security Audit of all important establishments and vital installations in the State, undertaken after the recent attack on Air Force Base at Pathankot, has since been completed and necessary actions taken.The meeting discussed various important issues relating to the effective enforcement of the Counter Infiltration and Counter Terrorism Grids along the IB and LOC in the Jammu and Kashmir regions. The earlier decided measures to be taken for maintaining internal order, particularly before, during and after encounters held by the Security Forces with militants/ terrorists, were discussed and certain fresh decisions were taken to more effectively ensure against collateral damage during encounters. It was also decided that enhanced attention/ increased deployment etc. shall be given to counter attempts of infiltration from across the International Border/ LOC.

In regard to enlarging awareness of the civilian population regarding the risks involved in gathering when operations are ongoing, the Chief Secretary informed that he had recently held a meeting with all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to sensitise them about various important issues relating to security and law and order maintenance. He said that he will be holding a similar meeting in Kashmir for ensuring enhanced coordination between Security Forces and Civil Administration.The Governor stressed the need for continued cohesive action by all the Security Forces in tandem with the Civil Administration for ensuring  maintenance of public order. The Governor called upon the Police, CRPF and Army to keep a close constant vigil for effective security management.
