Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave a go ahead to the Chairman of the Punjab State Farmers’ Commission Dr. G.S. Kalkat, who is also the Patron of Punjab Kisan Vikas Chamber (PKVC) to finalize its layout design and building plan in consultation with the State Chief Architect. The chamber complex was to come up at Mohali over an area of two acre plot recently allotted by GMADA.A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister while presiding over a review meeting of the Chamber this evening at his residence.Meanwhile, Mr. Badal handed over the allotment letter to the patron of PKVC and asked him to personally monitor the building and layout plan meticulously so that this ‘Think Tank’ to promote agriculture and allied farming activities on scientific lines could function in a congenial atmosphere to achieve the desired objective.

Taking part in deliberations, the Chief Minister said that the upcoming building of the chamber must be an architectural marvel, which should be a blend of modern and traditional Punjabi architecture. He laid thrust on having eco friendly building with facilities like rain water harvesting and solar panels. The Chief Minister said that the building must be aesthetically designed and must have conference hall, committee rooms and administrative offices, offices of the heads of subcommittee, library, and separate chambers for consultants, auditorium and cafeteria. He also underscored the need for having maintenance free exterior adding that special emphasis must be laid on sprucing up the campus with green belts by ensuring state-of-the-art landscaping in the campus.

He said that this farmers’ advisory body, on the pattern of industrial organizations like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), PHD Chamber of Commerce, Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (Assocham) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), would be a non-political forum exclusively dedicated to the cause of farming community. “This organization will provide an interactive platform to the farmers so as to enable them to take up their issues at an appropriate level for the quick resolution to their satisfaction” added Mr. Badal. Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Gaggandip Singh Brar, Commissioner Agriculture Mr. B.S. Sidhu, Chief Architect Ms. Sapna and Progressive farmers Mr. Kulwant Singh and Mr. Simranjeet Singh.
