To make “Make in India” Campaign Successful, the Mechanical Engineering Education need revamp. We need to develop indigenous technology. With the passage of time, China is getting older and India has full potential to compete with China and become manufacturing hub of the world and to achieve that we need big changes in mechanical engineering education. We need to focus on skill based education in our engineering, polytechnic, ITI Institutions.This was said by various experts in a national conference on “Advancement in Mechanical Engineering” organized by Aryans College of Engineering, Chandigarh at its campus. Dr. Dixit Garg, HOD, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra was the Key note speaker while Dr. Harmesh Kumar, Professor, UIET, Panjab University; Dr. Amrinderpal Singh, Professor, UIET; Dr. Amit Chauhan, Professor, UIET were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges presided over the conference. Dr. Dixit started his talk by mentioning the gap between India, US and Japanese technology. He said that Mechanical engineering has an important role in the success of Make in India program. He emphasized on emerging research in Nano Technology by mechanical engineers.Dr. Harmesh shared his views on Emerging trends in Mechanical Engineering. He emphasized on emerging research on Nano technology by mechanical engineers. 

Reduced size of chips used in computers and reduced palm size computer is manufactured by mechanical engineers & not only by computer engineers. He introduced students with new harder materials Nimonic alloys, HSTR alloys and different composite material & application in upcoming future of mechanical regime.Dr. Amit Chauhan presented his paper entitled “Stability of Journal Bearing” covering subject area “Tribology” under Mechanical Engineering. He explained how journal bearing has been replaced by non circular common journal bearing. How pressure distribution curve drawn in non circular bearing make bearing stable.Dr. Amrinderpal Singh while quoting the renowned engineers in his speech said that students should be motivated for the innovations and ways on the enhancement of Technology. He further said that the institutions should help in uplifting the innovative ideas and skills of the youth so they can work free hand on their projects and take them to patent level.Dr. A.L Gauba, Director, Aryans College of Engineering; Prof. B.S Sidhu, Registrar; Mr. Anil Kuman, Mr. Nitin Khosla, Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Amanpreet Singh Gill, Mr. Jaswinder Singh etc were present on the conference.
