Renowned Saint Sri M, founder of MANAV EKTA MISSION, who is on a WALK OF HOPE, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir has kindly consented to have a 2 day stopover at Chandigarh which was not a part of the original itinerary. Also known as the modern day Kabir, he has embarked on this ASHA YATRA to spread the message of Inter – faith harmony. It will be the first ever visit of Sri M to Chandigarh.The Walk of Hope was flagged off on 12th January, 2015, the birth anniversary of a great prophet of inter faith harmony, Swami Vivekanand. Starting from the gandi Memorial Mandapam in Kanyakumari and concluding in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, and this initiative will reach out to 10 million fellow Indians. Accompanied by a dedicated group of Padyatri's, the Walk has traversed 9 states covering approximately 6000 kms before coming to Chandigarh. An enthusiastic reception has been accorded to the Walk in each state. The Chief Ministers of the states have joined the Walk. At Delhi the Walk was felicitated by the Hon Rashtrapati, Sh Pranab Mukherji, at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Sri M addressed MP”s from both Houses of Parliament in the Committee room.
The WALK OF HOPE will be in Chandigarh from the 17th to the 19th of March, 2016.On the 18th March, Friday, the walk will commence at 6 am from NADHA SAAB GURUDWARA and terminate at MANSA DEVI MANDIR. On the 19th March, Saturday, the Walk will commence at 6am from the GARDEN OF SILENCE ( BUDDHA STATUE) at SUKHNA LAKE and terminate at DEPT OF GANDHIAN STUDIES, PUNJAB UNIVERSITY. The Hon' Governor of Punjab and Haryana, Sh Kaptan Singh Solanki, has confirmed his participation in the Walk.In the evening a civic reception will be accorded to Sri M on 19th March, 2016 at Moti Ram Arya Sec 27 Sch.
