State land grabbing by land mafia allegedly in connivance with Revenue officials sparked a protest here while protesters warned if action against guilty is not initiated they will launch a massive agitation in coming day. Scores of people from Chattarhama Hazratbal area in the outskirts of Srinagar city Thursday assembled in Press Enclave here and alleged that unabated encroachment of state land is going on in the area while Revenue officials including Patwari, Girdawar, and Naib Tehsildar are hand in glove with the land mafia.The protesters said that under the influence of land mafia no demarcation has been conducted by the field staff of the Revenue Department while the encroachers continue to encroach state land raising plinths to establish their claim over it.“It is the high time to initiate action against land mafia and the revenue officials. We appeal Governor Administration to look into the matter and force encroachers to de-occupy the state land,” the protesters told CNS.
