In connection with International Women’s Day various functions were held across the valley.At Srinagar District Legal Services Authority (DLSA),  Tuesday organize a seminar on International Women’s Day at District Court Complex, Sannat Ghar, Beminar Srinagar.“Pledging for Parity” (Promise for Equality) is the theme for the year 2016. The seminar was held under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Mr. Rashid Ali Dar.Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ms. Shazia Tabasum said that each day is a women’s day because women are working round the clock whether at home or workplace, like one woman lawyers, which shows dedication in their daily routine work. She further said that if every Muslim woman chooses the path of Hazrat Khatija (RA) and Hazrat Fatima (RA) then there will be  no need to celebrate international women’s day. Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Traffic and Secretary, DLSA, Mr. Abdul Baari, spoke about the importance of women empowerment in our society.Sub Registrar, District Session Court, Srinagar, Mr. Fayaz Qureshi said that various researches shows that women are efficient than men, she can deliver any task quickly as compared to men. Lawyers of District Court Srinagar also participated in the seminar.At Baramulla an awareness programme was organised by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Baramulla at Court premises Chandoosa Baramulla. 

The awareness camp was aimed at providing awareness to the people especially the women folk about their rights and duties.The gathering was also provided information regarding different laws and Acts in place for the protection of women’s rights. It was mentioned that the aim of conducting such awareness programmes is to ensure that Women are given equal status and respect in all fields..A special programme was also organised by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pattan at Court complex Pattan. Sub-Judge Pattan was the Chief Guest on the occasion. During the programme awareness regarding different aspects of women empowerment and the rights of women were highlighted.Bar Association members, Anganwari workers, ASHA workers and a huge gathering of people was present during the awareness camp.At Baramulla as a part of observing International Women’s day, a seminar was today held at the Auditorium of Government Degree College for Women Baramulla. District Development Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Principal Govt. Degree College, Prof. Parveen Pandit and various other academicians were also present.On the occasion, the District Development Commissioner, Yasha Mudgal highlighted various issues being faced by women, notably, dowry, female foeticide and infanticide. The DDC expressed concern over the declining sex ratio in the society.A gathering of students and scholars was present during the seminar. Many academicians also deliberated upon the various aspects of celebrating the Women’s day.In Anantnag district an awareness programme was held on International Women’s Day to create mass awareness about the rights of women and to acknowledge their achievements,.

The awareness programme, themed ‘Empowering Women-Empowering Humanity, planet 50-50 by 2030, set it up for gender equality’ was organized by ICDS Anantnag under the flagship scheme Beti Bachao Beti Padhao at the Auditorium of Degree College Boys, Anantnag.Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Muneer ul Islam who was the Chief Guest on the occasion said that the multifaceted role played by women needs to be appreciated and promoted. He said that to close in on the gender gap in the district, societal awareness about importance of girl child in the society will galvanize a positive change towards females.The other speakers including students from various schools of the district deliberated on the issues faced by the women especially on educational and financial fronts in the gender critical Anantnag district.The speakers while highlighting the significant role played by women in social, economic, political, educational and judicial fronts, unanimously agreed that to usher on a new era of social development granting of equal rights and equal decision-making power to women is the only way forward.On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner felicitated various girls for their achievements in different fields.

ACD Anantnag, Mr Gulzar Ahmad, Principal Government Degree College Boys, Anantnag, DPO Anantnag, Mr Ikramullah Tak, Community Health Officers, civil society members, teachers, project officers of various blocks were also present on the occasion.At Pulwama a function was organized by J&K Yateem Trust in collaboration with District Administration Pulwama at Town Hall Pulwama here today.On this occasion Assistant Commissioner Development, Pulwama said that the day also aims to initiate more effective actions to safe guard the rights of women in the society. He said Government has launched various schemes including ‘Beti Bechao Beti Padhao’ to empower the women in the society. On this occasion officers of District Administration delivered the lectures about the rights of women.Meanwhile a seminar on the subject was also held in Collaboration with  District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar and Degree College Bemina at College premises.On the occasion, Secretary DLSA, (additional spl. Mobile Magistrate (Traffic)) Mr. Abdul Bari highlighted the legal rights of women folk.At Bandipora a function to commemorate International Women’s Day was organised by Tehsil Legal Services Committee Bandipora at Higher Secondary School Aloosa today.Principal District and Session Judge Bandipora, M.A. Malik chaired the function while as CJM Bandipora, Munsiff Bandipora, Tehsildar Aloosa, Principal of School, senior advocates and citizens besides the students participated in it. The speakers on the occasion highlighted the importance of the day and spoke about the legal rights of women. Advocating for giving a appropriate place of women, they appealed people to play their role in eradication of the domestic violence’s in the society.
