Governor N.N. Vohra and Mrs. Usha Vohra, First Lady, felicitated NCC Cadets Ms. Garima Charak, Ms. Arti Devi, Mr. Javaid Ahmad Parrey, Mr. Rafeeq Hajam, Mr. Mukesh Kumar and Rohit Sharma in a function held at the Raj Bhavanhere today. The Governor and Mrs. Vohra lauded the Cadets for their outstanding performances at the Republic Day Camp-2016 which was held at New Delhi in January this year.Cadets Garima Charak and Arti Devi, secured the first and third positions in the “Best Cadet” Competitions in the Senior Army (Girls) and Navy Wings, respectively; Cadet Javaid Ahmad Parrey has been selected to undergo training at OTA, Chennai for becoming a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army; and a 3 person team OF Cadet Rafeeq Hajam, Cadet Rohit Sharma and Cadet Mukesh Kumar secured the third position for their “Powered Ship Model” at the National Level Competition.

The Governor and the First Lady interacted with the Cadets and enquired about their studies and future plans. They conveyed their best wishes to the Cadets and wished them bright futures ahead. Cash Rewards of Rs. 5000 each and mementoes were presented to the Cadets.Maj. Gen. S.S Jakhar, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate briefed the Governor about the ongoing activities and achievements of the J&K’s NCC Directorate.Mr P.K Tripathi, Principal Secretary to the Governor; Colonel R.S Bhatti; Captain Geeta Srivastava and Petty Officer Raj Kumar were present on the occasion.
