Several youth were Monday injured in clashes with police and paramilitary forces that erupted in Wazirpora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.As soon as the funeral prayers of Dawood Sheikh, a Hizb militant ended, the protesters, mostly young men, chanted pro-freedom slogans and hurled stones at CRPF camp in Wazipora area.Witnesses said that forces fired pellets, teargas shells at the protesters to disperse the protesting youth thereby resulted in the injuries of scores of youth.According to KNS correspondent, almost a dozen of youth sustained injuries when they allegedly tried to attack on CRPF camp located on the road leading to encounter site Bachura to Dawood’s native village (Kaimouh). “The injured youth were shifted to District hospital Anantnag,” he said. He said that the health condition of one among the injured youth was critical and was shifted to SMHS hospital while the other injured persons were discharged from the hospital.He said that a complete shutdown was also observed in several area of Anatnag district. “All shops and other business establishments remained closed while the traffic was off the roads” he said.A top police official told KNS that barring some incidents, the situation remained peaceful.
