Govt orders foolproof security to move employees

Replaces security personnel after ‘harassment’ on weekend

Chief Secretary on Monday ordered to provide ‘foolproof’ security to Darbar move employees following their ‘harassment’ in government quarters after a cricket match between India and Pakistan last weekend.Ghulam Rasool Mir, president J&K Civil Secretariat (Non-Gazetted) Employees Union  told news agency GNS that chief secretary convened the meeting to discuss the Saturday’s incident at Ahatta Amar Singh, Panjtirtham, Rehari Nallah, Tope Sherikhan and other colonies.Among others, Principal Secretary Home, Director Estates were present in the meeting besides Ghulam Rasool Mir and Maqbool Hussain (presidents of secretariat unions).“Foolproof security be provided in all government quarters to safeguard the interest and lives of secretaries employees residing in residential quarters at different locations within and outside the city,” the chief secretary was quoted as having directed the authorities.The present security deployed by the government be replaced by local police immediately to avoid occurrence of such incidents in future. “Eviction drive against illegal occupants in these quarters.”    

On Saturday, the Darbar move employees from Kashmir alleged that they were harassed soon after cricket match between India and Pakistan in ongoing Asia cup tournament was over.A number of employees said that their counterparts from Jammu and local residents assembled in the premises of government quarters and started raising slogans. One of the slogans, according to the Kashmir secretariat employees was “Jis ko yehan rehana hai Ram Ram Kehna hai” (One who has to stay here must say Ram Ram)”.Later they banged the doors and windows in order to frighten the Kashmir staff. The Kashmir employees said that even security personnel deployed in the government quarters supported the sloganeering mob. (GNS)
