Oakridge International School organised Student led conference at its campus. In Students led conference students are put on driver’s seat by which they got tremendous opportunity for reflection and engagement. It was extremely heartening for the parents to witness students in control of their own efforts. The Show was run by the students who interestingly informing their parents how far they have progressed since the commencement of their learning. This conference communicated not only how a student is doing but also showed the practical reasons. Parents enjoyed seeing their little ones taking the ownership of their own learning.Students prepared SLC invites for their parents. Besides, They also prepared portfolios on their previous units in the form of assignments .
The conference involves the student discussing and reflecting upon samples of work that they have previously chosen to share with their parents. These samples have been previously selected under the guidance and support of their teachers. Students also reflected on the IB learner’s profile and attitudes they developed over the units.The School Principal, Ramanjit Ghuman while encouraging the students said that putting students in the driver's seat of their parent-teacher conferences creates opportunities for reflection, engagement and agency. According to her such conferences provide parents with updates on their child’s progress and opportunities to see their student’s work.Coordinator, Geeta Vasudeva shared at the moment that such student led conferences empowers the children and inculcates in them a sense of pride towards their learning.
