To raise the standard of education in Punjab, under the foremost and historical step to restart the trend of examination in 5th and 8th class the Education Minister of Punjab, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema met the students to give his best wishes and gifts. On the beginning of the 5th class examination, Dr. Cheema personally interacted with students to bless and boost their confidence and distributed sweets and geometry boxes as gifts along with the best wishes.In a brief and cogent seminar before starting the examination the Minister addressed the students with a great message that for their bright future and strong foundation it is very necessary to start the exams for 5th and 8th standard. He said that for this purpose the Education Department through SCERT decided to start the learning outcome evaluation system with this first examination of 5th class.While addressing the students Dr. Cheema said, “students, this is your first test and first step for climbing the ladder of success, for which I bless you all and pray for your successful future.

” He asked the student about their preparation for exam and insisted them to avoid cheating during the examination, to score good marks with their hard work. He also mentioned that though no one will fail in these exams but forthcoming life achievements it shall be observed that how much one can score and everyone has to pass the exam with maximum marks.

On this occasion during interaction with press reporters, Dr. Cheema said that Chief Minister Mr. Prakash Singh Badal through a letter to the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi requested to start the 5th and 8th class examination and not to promote the students to next class those who failed in it. A collective resolution has been passed in legislative assembly and sent to central government regarding this issue. He himself has raised this issue in a meeting with Human Resources Development Ministry. He specified that when the Punjab Govt. has started these evaluation tests on the state level this initiative is appraised by other states of India. He said that for the benefits of the students he will always support them and help them to come forward in field of education. 

Wishing the students for their examination, the Education Minister sent them towards examination centre for test. Further, D.P.I. (Secondary Education), Mr. Balbir Singh Dhol specially visited the school and thanked the Education Minister for encouraging the students. A girl student of 5th class gave an impressive speech to thank the minister for the arrangements and blessing and ensured that all students will appear in the examination honestly with hard work and strong determination.Prominent among others who were present in the function included DPI (Secondary Education) Mr. Harbans Singh Sandhu, Senior Akali Leaders S. Amrik Singh Mohali, S. Jaswant Singh Bhullar, Ms. Kuldeep Kaur Kang, SDM Mohali Mr. Lakhmir Singh, DEO (SE) Mohali Mr. Mewa Singh Sidhu, DEO (EE) Mohali Mr. Tota Singh Chahal and Deputy Director, SCERT Dr. Ginni Duggal.
