Demanding Judicial probe in Saroor Samba incident in which a Gujjar was killed while another is battling for life, former Minister and Member Legislative Assembly Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali has termed it large scale atrocities of Governor Administration. He lodged his protest before Chief Secretary and pressed upon him for time bound judicial inquiry. It is pertinent to mention that 2 Gujjars have been killed in Police action during JDA eviction drive at Saroor Samba area.Terming the incident as brutality on part of Governor administration, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that administration and Police is hell bent to victimise nomads who are living in the area since 1960. He said that Government has no right to harass nomads who are already facing hardships of life.

Demanding judicial probe in the incident, Zulfkar said that the incident is of serious nature as innocent nomads have been targeted and killed without any solid reason on the name of eviction drive. He said that only Gujjars are being targeted on the name of this so called drive. He said that there are thousands of land grabbers and land mafia but no action was taken neither by police nor by JDA or Forest department on them. He said that Gujjars are soft targets because they have no influence and money to sustain in this environment of partiality.

Questioning the action, Zulfkar said that Gujjars who were residing in Saroor were neither militant nor are anti nationals. He said that they are having right to protest and raise voice against any injustice and when there are Standard Operation Procedure (SoP) for tackling such issues, why it was not applied on the gound?. He further questioned that why the action is being initiated only against Gujjars and why Police and administration could not see land grabbers and land mafia. ‘’Why you are mute on the illegal occupation of these land mafia’’, Zulfkar asked question from JDA and Police.Conveying his strong protest to Chief Secretary BR Sharma, Chowdhary Zulfkar has demanded Judicial Inquiry. He said that those who are involved in the killing of 2 Gujjars must be booked under 302 and stern action should be initiated against them. He said that action should also be initiated against government department which created such tension in the area against innocent nomads.  He also demanded immediate ex-gratia relief and compensation of loss to the local Gujjars during eviction drive besides demanded immediate stopping of this so called selective eviction drive.Meanwhile Senior Gujjar leader and former MLC Haji Nizam ud Din Khatana has expressed deep concern over the issue and demanded judicial probe. He said that such action will not be tolerated and Gujjars will raise their voice against such atrocities. (CNS)
