New Delhi , 23 Feb 2016

At a time when certain elements in society are damaging public property, the devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission carried out a cleanliness and tree plantation drive throughout the country today to celebrate the 62ndBirthday of Nirankari BabaHardev Singh Ji Maharaj. While cleanliness drive included 120 major hospitals in 108 metro-cities and a large number of dispensaries across the country, tree plantation was done in the Mission’s SatsangBhawans and public parks. In view of the ongoing ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ with special concentration on hospitals, clinics and nursing homes in the country during the current fortnight from February 15 to 29, the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has welcomed the Mission’s effort as a massive voluntary contribution in the same. In fact, in view of its major partnership, the Government of India has already declared the Mission as its brand ambassador in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

In Delhi, the tree plantation drive was launched by His Holiness himself with planting a tree in the Mission’s Samagam Ground No. 8 complex, near Sant Nirankari Colony. He planted one tree on behalf of his esteemed spouse, Pujya Mata Sawinder Ji also who could not attend the ceremony herself. Similarly, Shri Narinder Singh Ji, Member Executive Committee of the Sant Nirankari Mandal also participated in the ceremony by planting another tree. The hospitals cleaned in the Capital included LNJP Hospital near Delhi Gate, Dr. Baba SahebAmbedkar Hospital, Rohini, JagPraveshChandra Hospital, Shastri Park and DrHedgewarAarogyaSansthan, Karkamdooma. Everybody felt surprised when thousands of volunteers - men and women clad in their blue and khaki uniforms started descending on their designated destinations from 6.00 O’clock in the morning. They organized themselves in different teams and cleaned not only the OPD, wards, clinics and laboratories inside but the walls, gates, sign-boards and surroundings outside also.

Being the largest Hospital run by the Government of Delhi, LNJP Hospital received special attention. More than 1000 volunteers worked under the guidance of Holy Sisters Mohini Ahuja Ji from Hyderabad and Bindiya Chhabra Ji from Delhi. Since the entire drive was taking place under the auspices of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, its Secretary as also the Secretary (HQ) of the Sant Nirankari Mandal Shri C.L. Gulati and the Foundation’s Head of Operations Shri Pankaj Ahlawat were also present at LNJP Hospital to encourage the participants.Shri C.L. Gulati mentioned that the Foundation has already been carrying out a cleanliness Drive at 46 main railway stations across the country once in every month since October 2, 2015 as a part of the ‘Swachh Rail – Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. He said that the Sant Nirankari Mission is ready to participate in any service to community. The devotees here are inspired by Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj who says that pollution must be removed whether it exists in the mind within or in the surroundings outside. This translates his message that life gets meaning if it is lived for others.
