Accusing police of acting on behest of Bhartiya Janata Party to evict Muslims from Jammu division, Gujjar Bakerwal community Tuesday demanded a judicial probe into the alleged loot, arson and killing of a Gujjar in Saroor area of Samba district.Scores of Gujjar and Bakerwal students staged a massive protest in Press Enclave Srinagar against the eviction drive launched by Jammu Development Authority (JDA) against Gujjar community in Samba district.

Pertinently, clashes had erupted between the two sides after Gujjar family’s resisted demolition of their huts on Monday. Police opened fire on the protesters in which one civilian identified as Muhammad Yaqoob son of Muhammad Rehman died. The locals alleged that several huts of Gujjars were burnt down by the police.

The protesting community led by Gujjar Bakerwal Students Welfare Association Vice President Zahid Chowdary told CNS incumbent administration has no control over the BJP and RSS leaders who use police and authorities to suppress Muslims in different district of Jammu Division. “During the demolition drive, arson and loot, RSS goons draping saffron flags were passing directions to the police while SHO Bari Brahmana acted as mute spectator and encouraged the illegal acts of their men and RSS goons,” he said.The protesters expressed concern over the government policy of suppression and said if Gujjar’s will be targeted again, they will launch state wide agitation.Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Bari Brahma was suspended and attached to District Police Lines (DPL) Samba until further inquiry.
