New Delhi , 17 Feb 2016

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Wednesday said he does not think JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar was beaten up when he was brought to Patiala House court."I don't think you can call that situation went out of hand, I don't think he (Kanhaiya Kumar) was beaten up. My information is that there was jostling when he was brought to court in which he lost one of his slippers," Bassi told the media here. He insisted that Kanhaiya was escorted by police officers and he was well taken care of. "During jostling, our police officers were covering him (Kanhaiya) from behind and front with intention of protecting him from assault. Our tactic was not to use force because if we had used force, that could have been counter productive," he added.
