Mechanical Sweeping as practiced in Mohali will be initiated in other Cities in Punjab. As such initial activities in this regard to start mechanical Sweeping at Shri Amritsar Shaib have been started. This was stated by Minister for local bodies, Medical Education & Research Sh. Anil Joshi while addressing the press after inaugurating the Night Shelter worth Rs. 40 lacs at Phase 6 Mohali, Community Toilets worth Rs. 15 lacs constructed under Swach Bharat Mission by Swaraj Tractors Limited (Mahindra n Mahindra) and workshop worth Rs. 2 crore constructed at Industrial Area Phase – 9, under Mechanized Sweeping Project. During this Chief Parliamentary Secretary Local Bodies Punjab Sh. Som Parkash was also present.
Sh. Anil Joshi while addressing the press said that each and every efforts will be done to beutify the city Mohali. As such, Financial grant of Rs. 406 crore has been released for beautification works like LED lights, Sewerage works etc. All these works will provide a new look to the city. SAS Nagar is the first city of Punjab where mechanized Sweeping has been started and now it will be followed in entire Punjab. Positive outcome has been achieved from the mechanized cleaning. He further said that Mohali city has make its marks on the world map and now private sector has also came forward for its beautification. He appreciated the community toilets worth Rs. 15 lacs constructed by Swaraj Tractors Limited (Mahindra n Mahindra) near PTL Chowk. He said that Swach Bharat Campaign initiated by Prime Minister Sh. Narender Modi has got tremendous support all over the nation for which besides Govt. agencies private sector has also came forward to support and cooperate.
Sh. Anil Joshi said that the night shelter at Mohali is of ultra modern facility. As such Rs. 40 lacs stands spent for this and Rs. 11 lacs more will also be spent for this. This Night shelter has a capacity to accommodate 40 persons at a time. The night shelter also having facility for separate ladies and Gents toilets, Kitchen & Store. For proper upkeep & maintenance of Night Shelter two Lady attendant, two Gents attendants, one watchman & one sweeper has been deputed. Food facility will also be provided at night shelter. While answering a question regarding coming vidhan sabha elections, he said that BJP is a national party and the decision taken by high command will be the final and acceptable for all party members.
