Governor N. N. Vohra, Chairman of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, chaired a meeting at the Raj Bhavan here today to finalise and decide all pending matters to operationalize the upcomingShri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing at Kakryal.The meeting was attended by the Jammu-based Members of the Board: Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Dr. Ashok Bhan. Shri H. L. Maini and Maj. Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma. Besides, Shri Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Dr. (Brig.) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal attended the meeting.

Regarding the College of Nursing, the meeting took the required decisions regarding the completion of the required infrastructure, laboratories, library, hostel facilities recruitment of faculty and other staff, number of girls to be admitted in the first batch, scale of fees to be charged, criteria of admission etc. Governor directed the CEO and Brig.M.M Harjai to ensure that the upcoming Nursing College commences functioning as per the Nursing Council Schedule.The meeting noted that the Nursing Council of India has approved the application for establishment of this College and the first session of the Nursing College will commence in August 2016, for which the admission process will be set in motion in the first week of June and 60 girls will be selected on merit basis. CEO reported that the academic block, hostel, laboratories, library and other required facilities will be positioned by first week of March 2016, while the faculty and other staff will also be placed well in time.The Governor observed that the establishment of the Nursing College will be another milestone in the development of Katra and its surrounding areas and one more significant contribution of the Shrine Board towards the area along with other mega projects, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra.
