The Department of Horticulture, District Jammu organized a farmer’s awareness camp at Satwari Chowk, Jammu. District Development Commissioner, Simrandeep Singh was the chief guest and Director Horticulture Jammu, Anil Kumar Sharma was the guest of honour on the occasion. A fruit plant sales counter was inaugurated by the dignitaries on the occasion.Expressing satisfaction over the quality of fruit plants put on sale , DC advised farmers to come forward and avail the opportunity of certified fresh quality planting material being put on sale by the Department on Government rates and advised them to set up more such sales counters in the district.
While speaking on the occasion, Director Horticulture Jammu presented a detailed account of the schemes and incentives being provided by the department. He stressed on the production of Organic Fruit by adoption of Organic Farming in their orchards. Besides, he advised the farmers to establish vermin compost units and adopt INM/IPM practices in their fields.Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, S. Kirtan Singh Raina presented a detailed account of the achievements made till date in the District. A field visit of Government Fruit Plant Nursery, Marallian was also conducted by the District Development Commissioner.District level SMS Sanjeev Kumar (Ento) and Ashwani Sharma (Pomology), Horticulture Development Officers and other staff members of the Department of Horticulture, District Jammu were also present on the occasion.
